& Vision

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5

Illume: For the darkness, proof of light.

The interaction of darkness and light, and the purpose of that interaction, is a thread that runs through the Bible.

The Mission

Illume is dedicated to redefining the experience of spiritual community by integrating innovative digital and physical spaces that foster deep connections, personal growth, and actionable service. Our mission is to create a dynamic and inclusive platform where individuals can explore their faith, engage in meaningful dialogues, and actively participate in community-driven service projects. By embracing creative flexibility and intentional design, Illume seeks to remove barriers to spiritual engagement, making it accessible, engaging, and relevant for modern seekers everywhere.

The Vision

If you want to see, you need light. You can’t see anything without it. Illume intentionally creates light moments for people to engage with and, as they do so, grow—together—with those around them.

Illume’s vision is to be a global leader in spiritual community development and innovation. Every interaction is an opportunity for personal transformation and communal advancement. Illume’s Spotlight Series, Communities, approach to facility, and community service emphases aim to set new standards for how faith and connection are cultivated, offering a sanctuary that not only enlightens but also empowers individuals to enact change in their lives and in the wider world.

Core Values

Darkness | For the Darkness because the Lost are Findable
  • We make decisions based not on those who have been here longest but on those who are not here yet.
    • "But your iniquities have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you...So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows. Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like people without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were twilight, among the strong, we are like the dead." (Isaiah 59:1, 9-10)
    • "The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him...Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you." (Isaiah 59:15-16, 60:1-2)

Light | Proof of Light because Grace is Salvation
  • The light is the love that facilitates connection, which is God himself. We hold that out as clearly as we can.
    • "Everything exposed by the light becomes visible, and everything that is illuminated becomes a light." (Ephesians 5:13)
    • "God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." (1 John 1:5b)

Companionship | Group Facilitation because Connection is Life & Separation is Death
  • You can't be alive if you're alone, so we don't let people be alone.
    • "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." (John 3:19-21)
    • "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)

Selflessness | Sacrificial Generosity because God is Love
  • Joy, status, meaning, purpose—all these are hidden in letting go.
    • “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)
    • You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. (Psalm 51:16-17)
